By 2016, it has 19 offices in: Amsterdam (Netherlands), Barcelona (Spain), Berlin (Germany), Beijing (China), Copenhagen (Denmark), Dublin (Ireland), London (UK), Miami (Florida, USA), Milan (Italy), Moscow (Russia), New Delhi (India), Paris (France), Portland (Oregon, USA), San Francisco (California, USA), São Paulo (Brazil), Seoul (South Korea), Singapore, Sydney (Australia), Tokyo (Japan), and Toronto (Canada).

Airbnb enables you to rent short-term lodging including vacation rentals, apartments, homestays, hostel beds or hotel rooms. It receives percentage service fees from both guests and hosts in conjunction with every booking. The cost of lodging is set by the host, which could be much cheaper than a hotel room per night, but hosts may add extra fees, such as cleaning fee for each stay. Airbnb charges guests a 6-12% services fee and charges hosts a 3-5% fee.
HistoryAirbnb was founded as AirBed&Breakfast in 2008 by former schoolmates Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia and Nathan Blecharczyk. The company started as a way to help the co-founders pay rent by hosting guests on an airbed in their apartment. The name of the company was changed to Airbnb.com in 2009. In May 2011, Airbnb acquired a German competitor, Accoleo, and started opening offices in Hamburg, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Moscow and Sao Paulo. In 2012, Airbnb acquired London-based rival CrashPadder. At the end of the year, Airbnb opened an office in Sydney and started expansion in Asia. In November 2012 and December 2012, Airbnb acquired NabeWise, a city guide, and Localmind, a location-based question and answer platform. In February 2017, Airbnb acquired Luxury Retreats International, a Canadian-based villa rental company. In March 2017, Airbnb raised $1 billion funding, valuing the company at $31 billion.
