HistoryTravelocity was created in 1996 as a subsidiary of Sabre Holdings. It was the first website with direct booking. In 2000, Sabre merged Travelocity with Preview Travel and put the resulting company on the NASDAQ exchange, although it kept 70% control. Travelocity acquired Site59.com in 2002. It acquired lastminute.com in 2005 for £577 million and sold it to Swiss based Bravofly Rumbo for £76 million in 2014. In January 2015, Travelocity was sold by Sabre Corporation to Expedia, Inc. for $280 million.
