DescriptionWimdu is one of leading online marketplaces for private accommodation. It has 350,000 property listings in more than 150 countries. On Wimdu.com, you can rent properties and list your own place after registering a personal online profile. You can post reviews about your experience after a stay. Wimdu charges 3% of commission from the host and 12% service fee from the guest. It supports multiple payment methods, including credit card, direct debit and wire transfer. All payments are retained for 24 hours after check-in so that guests can check their accommodation for problems.
HistoryWimdu was founded in March 2011 in Germany. It has raised about $90 million fund and become the second largest community marketplace for private spaces. However, tightening regulatory requirements about private space rental in Europe, particularly in Germany, gave Wimdu a hard time. In 2016, Wimdu merged with 9Flats, another competitor of Airbnb, and then purchased by Wyndham Worldwide's rental brand Novasol.
